Appreciating the Freedom to Read

Did you know that in 2016, the Office for Intellectual Freedom recorded 323 reports challenging the content and language of children’s books deeming them inappropriate and unsuitable for children?  Each year the American Library Association sponsors Banned Books Week, which acknowledges the importance of intellectual freedom and the free and open access to information.  This year from September 24 to September 30, take the time to celebrate our freedom to read. Visit the library and check out books that your family can share together.
