Dual Language Immersion Symposium for Educators, Feb 22

Join fellow California educators for a day of learning around biliteracy and UCLA Lab School’s next generation pedagogy through inquiry-based learning and unique learning experiences.

UCLA Lab School teachers engage in the latest tools and practices in language development for students learning to read in both English and Spanish.

Breakout sessions will offer a closer look at the school’s dual language program, embedded formative assessment that drives the learning process, and small-group instruction.

This event is co-sponsored by American Reading Company and UCLA Lab School’s Dual Language Program

Participants will:

  • Watch as teachers use the ENIL, a formative assessment tool that works with every student, at every reading level, K–12, in Spanish.
  • Walk through a model of an effective integrated balanced literacy block, both in English and Spanish
  • Understand how to build students’ background knowledge through small-group instruction and high-volume independent reading and writing, in English and Spanish.
