Spotlight on Science

UCLA Lab School students learn science through in-depth explorations. Teachers use the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) as a guide to determine the learning goals and the concepts to be studied (for example, the life cycle of plants, ecosystems and interdependence). Art, social students, literacy and math are woven through the explorations as children use a variety of media to express their understanding of the concepts. Exploring the natural landscape of the lab school campus, visiting UCLA laboratories, and traveling on field trips provides a rich variety of environments for leaning firsthand.
