  • Complete an Applicant Inquiry Form

    The first step in applying for admission to UCLA Lab School is to complete an Applicant Inquiry form in English or Spanish. Once submitted, you will be emailed instructions for creating an online admissions account. Accessing your online admissions account will allow you view the applicant checklist and submit an application for admission. 

    The inquiry form for 2025–2026 is now available.
  • Submit an Online Application for Admission

    The online application process is quick and easy. 

    Responses to all questions are mandatory unless otherwise indicated. Note that failure to complete the sections regarding the child’s ethnicity and the income of parent/guardian(s) who financially support applicant will prevent the application from being processed and adversely affect the child’s chances of gaining admission.

    Deadline
    The deadline to submit an application for admission is January 10, 2025.
  • Visit Lab School Campus

    Prospective parents/guardians are encouraged to visit campus in-person. for an in-person visit. Campus visits take place throughout the fall. 

    Registration is REQUIRED to visit campus and may be done via the Admissions Checklist in your online account.

    Note: All prospective parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to attend a campus visit on one of the available dates. We are unable to accommodate requests for visits outside of these dates.  
  • Additional Required Documents

    Applicants MUST upload the following documents to the application checklist in your online parent account:
    • A copy of the applicant's birth certificate
    • Most recent progress reportONLY for applicants applying to Primary, Intermediate, and Upper Levels

  • Submit a Tuition Support Application

    UCLA Lab School partners with School and Student Services (SSS) in our tuition support process. In order to make decisions in a fair and equitable manner, we require that all prospective and returning families complete the SSS Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) and submit Federal tax returns annually. All information is kept strictly confidential. 
     
    Applicant families must meet all stated deadlines. Failure to meet deadlines will impact a family's tuition support award. 

    Deadline
    The deadline for NEW families to complete the tuition support application and submit all 2022 and 2023 supporting materials to SSS is January 10, 2025.

  • Admissions Decisions

    Admissions decisions for the 2025-26 school year will be sent via email to families who have successfully submitted an application on March 14, 2025

  • Selections are made by lottery

    UCLA Lab School admission selections are made blindly from randomized lists of applicants. Our admissions decisions are based on the school’s demographic and research needs rather than on skills, abilities, or other personal attributes of the applicants or their families. All prospective families must submit an application for admission in order to be entered into the lottery. 

Information Practices Act Disclosure

UCLA Lab School is part of the UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, governed by the Regents of the University of California. UCLA Lab School uses the information requested on the application form to process your application for admission. The information is also available to staff, teaching assistants, and faculty for educational purposes. Responses to all questions are mandatory unless otherwise indicated. If you do not supply the mandatory information, the processing of your application will be delayed and possibly even prevented. You will not be penalized if you do not complete those items that are optional; however, failure to complete the section on child’s ethnicity could adversely affect the child’s chances of gaining admission.
