  • Being part of a laboratory school community is a unique and rewarding experience

At UCLA Lab School we work directly with scholars and experts to inform our curriculum for children ages 4-12. We honor that every child learns differently and has unique interests and skill sets. When children see that teachers respect and honor these differences and include them in lesson design, it makes for rich and joyful learning.

Our goal is to equip children to lead a meaningful life—where they take care of themselves and their community. We foster a school culture that instills kindness, collaboration and courage to do what is right. We imagine a world where we all have these tools and mindset.

Age Requirements and Level Placements

We have a mixture of multi-age and single-age classrooms. Multi-age groupings in the primary and intermediate years strengthen the relationship between the teacher and student and the teacher and family. In multi-age classrooms, younger students have opportunities to observe, emulate, and imitate a wide range of behaviors; older students have the opportunity to assume more responsibility. Single-age groupings in the early childhood and upper years allow for a focus on the transition in to elementary school and preparation for moving on to middle school.
